On September 13, 2023, on the official page of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City officially announced a change in regulations on online visa approval for Taiwan.
Previously, Vietnamese people could use Korean and Japanese Visas (used) to apply for Taiwan visa online. According to the new regulations, these two types of visas are no longer applicable to Vietnamese people, details below:

Online approval of Taiwan entry permits for citizens of Southeast Asian countries
Citizens of India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos who apply to enter Taiwan through the Online Pre-Approval System need to meet the following conditions:
I.Basic conditions (must be suitable):
Passport must be valid for 6 months or more (meaning the time of entering Taiwan, not the time of entry registration).
Must have a round-trip air ticket, train ticket, or air ticket, train ticket for the next destination.
Never been a foreign worker in Taiwan.
People who have never had a record of violating laws or regulations in Taiwan.
II.Special conditions (currently having one of the following documents is acceptable):
1.Currently there are documents issued by countries: USA, Canada, UK, Schengen area. New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Korea following:
(1) Valid residence card or permanent residence (right) card; or
(2) Valid visa (including electronic visa); or
(3) Residence card or visa has expired within 10 years; However, you cannot register with an expired electronic visa from Australia or New Zealand.
Note: People with Vietnamese nationality are not allowed to register to enter Taiwan with Japanese or Korean documents; People with nationality from other countries who apply to enter Taiwan with Japanese/Korean documents must submit Japanese/Korean immigration documents.
2.Currently hold a visa or residence card issued by the Republic of China (Taiwan) within the past 10 years; However, it will not apply to visas issued by the Republic of China (Taiwan) with the visa symbol 「FL」 (Foreign Worker visa), 「X」 (Other visa), 「P」with Special Permission from MOFA (Quan Hong Project visa) paper copy or electronic visa, retroactive principle applies), or Residence card stating the purpose of residence is「FL」(Foreign workers).
III.Things to pay attention to:
In case your Taiwan entry registration is approved through this system, every year (from January 1 to December 31 of that year), the maximum number of entries with a permit is 6 times; In case you need to enter Taiwan more than 6 times in 1 year, starting from the 7th time onwards you must go to a Taiwan Representative Office abroad to apply for a visa to enter Taiwan. .
When registering for a conditional entry visa exemption through this system, you need to fill in all the information according to the actual situation. If it is discovered that you have used the confirmation of entry to Taiwan more than 6 times in a year, the Department of I will refuse entry.
Taiwan entry permit is valid for 90 days. During the validity period, the permit can be used to enter multiple times. The duration of stay in Taiwan for each entry is 14 days from the second day after upon entry. 7 days before the permit expires, you can apply for a new entry permit. If you fill in incorrectly, you can re-register immediately.
Only applies to holders of official passports, not applicable to holders of temporary passports, emergency passports, diplomatic passports, official passports, unofficial passports or other travel documents. .
Only applies to people with official visas, not applicable to people with work permits, or other similar documents.
People who have visas to the above countries but have stamps on their visas such as: VOID, CANCELLED or CANCELLED WITHOUT PREJUDICE are not eligible.
Overdue within 10 years, meaning the expiration date of the residence card or visa (if there is no expiration date, the date of issuance will be the standard) and the date of entry into Taiwan, the gap between these two dates does not matter. exceed 10 years
In the case of using a Permanent Residence Card, there will be no expiration date of the card. In this case, the card's validity date will be entered as December 31, "9999".
After filling out the entry permit, you should use a laser printer to print it out. When entering the country, you must present the entry permit and documents listed in the special conditions section for inspection. If not presented, If you have these documents, you will be denied entry.
Indonesian citizens with “Visa Waiver Registration” issued by Japan can apply for this permit.
Entering the country for the first time with this permit does not need to fill out the Entry Registration Form. Re-entering the country within the validity period of this permit requires filling out the Entry Registration Form again.
